[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yongchul] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 9th that it will make an early payment of 5.2 billion KRW for the ‘Jeonnam-type Farmer and Fisherman Public Interest Allowance,’ which will be implemented for the first time this year, on the 16th.
The recipients of the Boseong-gun Farmer and Fisherman Public Interest Allowance number about 8,600, and the payment amount of 5.2 billion KRW will be given in the local currency, the ‘Boseong Sarang Gift Certificate.’
Recipients can receive the allowance immediately on-site by visiting the local Nonghyup branch with an ID that can verify their identity.
The county originally planned to pay 300,000 KRW each in the first and second halves of the year, but decided to pay the full amount (600,000 KRW) in the first half to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnated due to the spread of COVID-19.
With this early payment, it is expected to greatly help not only farmers and fishermen struggling due to COVID-19 but also small business owners and self-employed people in the region.
A county official said, “We concentrated administrative efforts to verify the eligibility of recipients and finalize the list so that the allowance could be paid as soon as possible. We hope this public interest allowance payment will contribute to driving the stagnant local economy.”
