Renault Samsung Delivers 'Twizy' to 17 Social Welfare Organizations in Busan Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Renault Samsung Motors delivered ultra-compact electric vehicles Twizy to 17 social welfare institutions in the Busan area.
On the morning of the 9th, Renault Samsung handed over the ultra-compact electric vehicle 'Renault Twizy' at an electric vehicle delivery ceremony held in front of the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) to support social welfare institutions.
The delivery ceremony was held with the attendance of Park Seong-hoon, Vice Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City for Economic Affairs, Lee Jeong-hwan, President of Korea Housing Finance Corporation, Shin Jeong-taek, Chairman of Busan Community Chest of Korea, Hwang Eun-young, Head of Communications at Renault Samsung Motors, and representatives from 17 welfare centers in the Busan area.
This support was carried out by Korea Housing Finance Corporation purchasing 17 Renault Twizy vehicles for efficient project execution by social welfare institutions in the Busan area and donating them through the Busan Community Chest of Korea. Renault Samsung aimed to contribute to the efficient operation of social welfare projects for Busan residents by supplying Renault Twizy, produced at the Busan plant, to Korea Housing Finance Corporation.
The welfare institutions can now move more safely and quickly through narrow alleys and hilly roads using the eco-friendly ultra-compact electric vehicle Twizy they received. Through this, they plan to improve efficiency in local welfare facility projects such as home visits and counseling for socially vulnerable groups like the disabled and elderly living alone, as well as meal delivery services.
Hwang Eun-young, Head of Communications at Renault Samsung, said, "Since last year, the Renault Twizy produced at the Busan plant has played an important role not only in revitalizing the Busan regional economy but also in promoting welfare projects for local residents. As a company representing manufacturing in the Busan area, we will strive to continuously contribute to the local community."
The ultra-compact electric vehicle Renault Twizy is useful for commuting, delivery, security, and facility management in complex urban environments due to its compact body. It is also equipped with safety features such as airbags and a 4-point seatbelt. It can be fully charged in about 3 hours and 30 minutes using a household 220V power supply, and the driving range per charge varies from 55 to 80 km depending on driving conditions.

Originally produced in Spain, the Renault Twizy has been manufactured by Dongshin Motech, a Busan-based manufacturer, under contract since October last year, producing both domestic and global export volumes. Before the production of Renault Twizy, Renault Samsung was responsible for the production site, technical support, and parts supply within the Busan plant, while Busan City provided administrative and financial support for facility investment and sales expansion. This collaboration among the manufacturer, partner companies, and Busan City is recognized as a model case of win-win growth.
