[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Song Gap-seok, the Democratic Party candidate for Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu (Gap) in the April 15 general election, pledged on the 9th to "foster an eco-friendly air industry and create a manufacturing venture innovation cluster in the Free Economic Zone."
Song said, "We will nurture advanced industries such as the eco-friendly air industry and manufacturing venture innovation clusters to create jobs and future food sources for the region," and added, "We will redraw Gwangju's economic map centered on advanced innovative industries."
He continued, "By fostering the eco-friendly air industry, we will respond to air pollution such as fine dust and factory exhaust gases, and support certification, evaluation, and corporate demonstration through R&D and the establishment of a comprehensive support center for the eco-friendly air industry," emphasizing, "We will achieve the agglomeration of Gwangju's downstream ecosystem industries such as textiles, new materials, precision machinery, and electronic components."
He also stated, "We will promote the creation of a smart manufacturing and venture innovation cluster integrated with AI artificial intelligence," adding, "We will establish an energy valley in the Gwangju Free Economic Zone to lay the foundation for manufacturing and technology development of eco-friendly electric and hydrogen vehicles."
