Gwangjin-gu Sees Continued Donations from All Walks of Life to Overcome COVID-19
Over 100 Million Won Raised as of Early April in 'Public-Private Cooperative Resident Fundraising' Conducted in Gwangjin-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] In Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap), warm support from various sectors within the community continues to help overcome COVID-19.
On the 7th, the Gwangjin-gu Chamber of Commerce donated quarantine supplies worth approximately 10 million KRW, including masks and hand sanitizers, to prevent COVID-19. The Chamber of Commerce stated that they decided to donate to help overcome the difficulties faced by residents due to COVID-19 together.
Also, Johan Seoul Church (Senior Pastor Baek Sang-wook), located in Jayang 1-dong, donated 6 million KRW in cash, hoping to provide some support to neighbors going through difficult times due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The district plans to use the donation received from Johan Seoul Church to assist vulnerable elderly residents in the area who are struggling due to COVID-19.
On the 8th, the Gwangjin-gu branch of the Korea Association of Realtors (Branch President Yoon Hyun-ro) donated 5.1 million KRW to help overcome COVID-19. The Gwangjin-gu branch of the Korea Association of Realtors participates annually in acts of neighborly love, such as free brokerage services for low-income families.
On the same day, Kyungwoo Electric (CEO Kim Han-jung), located in Guui-dong, donated 10 million KRW, expressing their wish for the funds to be used to support residents facing difficulties due to COVID-19.
CEO Kim Han-jung of Kyungwoo Electric is known to be a director of the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation and a member of the Gwangjin-gu Scholarship Committee, continuously engaging in donation activities for the local community.

Additionally, the district is conducting a ‘Public-Private Cooperative Resident Fundraising’ campaign to overcome COVID-19 in collaboration with the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation and the Seoul Community Chest of Korea. As of early April, the collected donations have exceeded 100 million KRW.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I sincerely thank everyone who extended warm support despite the difficult situation caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” adding, “The valuable supplies and donations sent will be delivered to residents struggling due to COVID-19, and we will do our best to overcome COVID-19 as soon as possible.”
