Jeonnam Province Issues Administrative Order on Entertainment Venues Until the 19th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 8th that it has issued an administrative order to suspend operations of entertainment facilities such as clubs, colatecs, and entertainment bars within the province until the 19th, during the period of strict social distancing, or to strictly enforce compliance if operation is unavoidable.
Entertainment facilities are difficult to manage in terms of visitor control and, due to their enclosed space characteristics, have practical limitations in quarantine management, posing a very high risk of mass infection. This measure was taken especially after a confirmed case was reported among workers at entertainment establishments in other regions, which has spread public anxiety.
The targeted establishments include 4 clubs, 11 colatecs, 1,622 entertainment bars, and 12 general restaurants specializing in alcoholic beverages within the province, totaling 1,649 locations, which will operate temporarily until the 19th.
The administrative order strongly recommends the suspension of business operations at entertainment establishments in the province, and if operation is unavoidable, mandates strict adherence to eight major usage rules: ▲symptomatic workers must leave immediately ▲temperature checks at entrances with symptomatic individuals prohibited entry ▲all workers and users must wear masks ▲hand sanitizers must be placed at entrances ▲maintain a distance of 1 to 2 meters between facility users ▲keep and manage visitor logs, among others.
Jeonnam Province plans to punish establishments violating these rules under the “Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act” and will also claim compensation for quarantine costs if confirmed cases occur due to violations.
Meanwhile, as residents increasingly feel fatigued from continued social distancing and movement has increased since the beginning of this month, leading to a loosening of local participation in quarantine, Jeonnam Province has decided to form a joint inspection team including the province, city and county governments, police, fire departments, and consumer food hygiene inspectors to conduct strong crackdowns for the practical implementation of high-intensity social distancing.
