Honam University Establishes Department of Clinical Pathology... 25 Students to be Admitted for 2021 Academic Year
Increase of 30 Students in Nursing Department and 10 in Emergency Medical Services Department
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Honam University (President Park Sangcheol) announced on the 8th that it will establish a Department of Clinical Pathology and select 25 freshmen in the 2021 academic year university entrance exam.
In addition, the number of freshmen in health-related departments was significantly increased, including 30 students for the Department of Nursing and 10 students for the Department of Emergency Medical Services.
Honam University is the first four-year university in the Gwangju area to open a Department of Clinical Pathology and is taking the lead in training clinical pathology professionals who are playing an active role in COVID-19 infectious disease prevention and medical sites.
The Department of Clinical Pathology aims to educate and research the diagnosis and treatment technologies of diseases based on the understanding of human life phenomena, and to train professional medical personnel and biomedical scientists equipped with advanced knowledge in clinical pathology.
After obtaining a clinical pathologist license, graduates can advance to various hospitals, large corporations' medical-related fields, various laboratories in the life sciences field, medical science research institutes, public health officials, medical-related companies, medical equipment and reagent sales companies, medical insurance companies, and more.
Along with this, Honam University plans to increase the quota for the Department of Nursing to 160, up by 30 students, and select 50 students for the Department of Emergency Medical Services, which increased by 10 students, in the 2021 academic year university entrance exam.
Honam University has seven health-related departments including Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Services, Clinical Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy, and plans to recruit 395 students in the 2021 academic year entrance exam.
Meanwhile, six health-related departments at Honam University have maintained high pass rates in national exams for several years, continuing the reputation of "Skilled Honam University."
In particular, the Department of Nursing and the Department of Emergency Medical Services have maintained the honorable title of "100% pass rate in national exams for four consecutive years," with all examinees passing, and the Department of Occupational Therapy has continued an outstanding achievement of 100% pass rate for four years except last year.

The Department of Dental Hygiene (Department Head Moon Aeun) achieved excellent results with 43 out of 44 examinees passing the 47th National Dental Hygienist Examination in 2020, the Department of Speech Therapy (Department Head Yoo Jaeyeon) had 23 out of 24 examinees pass, and the Department of Physical Therapy (Department Head Lee Dongwoo) had 44 out of 53 examinees pass.
