Changwon City Invests 16.6 Billion KRW in Special Support Project for COVID-19 Response
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City, Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will implement the 'Special Support Project for Local Employment Response to the Novel Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19)' to support employment and livelihood stability for unpaid leave workers, daily workers, special-type workers, and freelancers in small businesses that fall into the blind spots of the social safety net.
This project will invest a total of 16.67 billion KRW, including 2.48 billion KRW of national funds secured through the government's supplementary budget and 14.19 billion KRW of city funds, to support 29,600 people in three areas: ▲ livelihood support project for special-type workers and freelancers ▲ short-term job project for the unemployed (daily workers, special-type workers, freelancers) ▲ support project for unpaid leave workers in businesses with fewer than 50 employees.
The city added a budget more than five times the amount of the allocated national funds to implement this special support project. This reflects the city's determination to provide the broadest possible social safety net to citizens urgently needing employment and livelihood stability due to the spread of COVID-19.
