Gwangyang City to Provide 600,000 Won Public Subsidy to Minimize COVID-19 Damage for Farmers and Fishermen
Payment of Gwangyang Love Gift Certificates to About 7,000 Farm, Fishery, and Forestry Business Owners
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City, Jeonnam announced on the 6th that it will provide farmers and fishermen with a public interest allowance of 600,000 won in the form of Gwangyang Love Gift Card to minimize the damage caused by COVID-19.
To this end, on the 2nd, Gwangyang City held a Public Interest Allowance Committee meeting and decided to provide the full amount of the farmers and fishermen public interest allowance, which was originally planned to be paid in two installments of 300,000 won each in the first and second half of the year, this month.
The public interest allowance will be paid to about 7,000 farmers and fishermen in the form of Gwangyang Love Gift Cards worth 4.2 billion won. The recipients are business owners who have had an address in Gwangyang City since before December 31, 2018, and who have registered agricultural and fishery management entities and continue to engage in agriculture, fishery, and forestry.
The Gwangyang Love Gift Card can only be used within Gwangyang City and is accepted at about 9,000 places including traditional markets, small and medium-sized marts, and restaurants equipped with card terminals. However, it cannot be used at large marts, large-scale sales outlets, or entertainment establishments.
The farmers and fishermen public interest allowance will be distributed to farmers and fishermen by the heads of villages and neighborhoods while circulating through the town and township offices, via NH Nonghyup Bank Gwangyang Branch, which is the financial institution contracted for selling the Gwangyang Love Gift Cards.
