Hong Moon-jong Begins Hunger Strike "Former President Park in Critical Condition... 'Wuhan Pneumonia' Risk"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] The Pro-Park New Party announced on the 6th that Representative Hong Moon-jong will begin a hunger strike to urge the release of former President Park Geun-hye.
Hong, who is running as a proportional representation candidate, held a press conference in front of Seoul Detention Center on the same day, stating that he will completely suspend election campaign activities related to the general election and start an indefinite hunger strike.
Representative Hong said, "I will fast indefinitely until the unconditional and immediate release of former President Park Geun-hye is realized," and added, "I urge sincere discussions throughout the political sphere regarding former President Park Geun-hye's imprisonment life."
The Pro-Park New Party plans to thoroughly review the central party's election campaign activities, excluding the vote-getting activities of local constituency candidates.
Hong also emphasized, "Despite repeated petitions requesting a temporary suspension of the sentence so that former President Park can receive intensive treatment due to her critical health condition, the current administration is ignoring them," and added, "Amid the ongoing spread of the 'Wuhan pneumonia,' the risk of infection is even greater."
