Government: "Fewer than 50 New Patients? Due to Reduced Weekend Testing" (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Regarding the decrease in new domestic cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) to below 50 for the first time in 46 days, the government stated, "It is difficult to judge the trend of increase or decrease based on this figure alone."
Kim Kang-lip, the 1st General Coordinator of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, said at a regular briefing held at the Government Complex Sejong on the 6th, "Although the number of new confirmed cases has dropped to below 50, this is largely due to the decrease in weekend diagnostic tests from the usual 10,000 to 6,000."
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, as of midnight on that day, the number of confirmed domestic cases increased by 47 compared to the previous day. It is the first time in 46 days since February 20 that the daily number of new confirmed cases fell below 50.
