[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 6th that it will simplify the reporting procedures for digital sex crimes, including the Telegram 'Baksa Bang' sexual exploitation case, and strengthen victim protection.
Accordingly, pop-up windows and banners for victim reporting will be posted on the websites of police stations in the Daegu area to link to the cybercrime reporting section, and a reporting channel (Daegu Police Digital Sex Crime Special Investigation Unit) will be established on KakaoTalk so that victims can easily contact the police via SNS.
In addition, when victims request counseling through the school violence reporting center phone numbers 112 and 117, they will be directly connected to the Digital Sex Crime Special Investigation Unit, and cooperation will be requested so that women's support organizations, such as the Women's Emergency Hotline (1366), actively notify the police when counseling victims.
Victim protection will also be strengthened during the investigation process so that victims can report their cases with confidence.
The police will also promote measures such as ▲providing smartwatches and other personal safety measures ▲using pseudonymous statements and female investigators for victim interviews ▲requesting deletion and blocking of sexual exploitation materials from the Korea Communications Standards Commission ▲and psychological counseling, economic, and legal support for victims through cooperation with related organizations such as the Women's Emergency Hotline.
