View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The design of a new wireless earphone being developed by Samsung Electronics has been leaked. The tentatively named 'Galaxy Buds Bean,' reminiscent of a bean shape, is expected to be released in the second half of this year.
According to German IT media WinFuture and others on the 4th (local time), Samsung Electronics' new wireless earphone development has entered its final stages, and engineering verification testing is currently underway. The codename for this product is 'Bean.' The model number has been designated as SM-R180, reflecting that it is a successor to the Galaxy Buds+ (SM-R175). It is likely to be released alongside the Galaxy Note20 in August.

The Galaxy Buds Bean features a design resembling a bean. Measuring 2.8 cm in length, the lower part fits into the ear canal, while the upper part fills the upper ear area. Unlike the in-ear design of the Galaxy Buds, which blocks external noise by fitting inside the ear canal but can cause discomfort due to pressure when worn for long periods, this product is expected to be released in an open-type design to alleviate such discomfort. However, as it is open-type, a downside is that surrounding noise is more audible when listening to music.

The Galaxy Buds Bean is known to be equipped with two small loudspeakers to enhance sound quality. Multiple built-in microphones allow for phone calls and ambient sound listening. It is not yet known whether it will feature active noise cancelling like Apple's 'AirPods Pro.' Previously, there were rumors that the Galaxy Buds+ released by Samsung in February would include active noise cancelling, but it was not included. Information about battery specifications has also not been disclosed.
