View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The Korea Institute of Science and Technology Development (KIRD), under the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced on the 6th that its new president, Park Gwichan, held an inauguration ceremony and officially began his duties.
At the inauguration ceremony, President Park stated, "In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, where boundaries between academic fields disappear, we seek talents who can converge and communicate across various fields rather than experts specialized in a single area." He added, "To this end, KIRD will establish itself as a world-class specialized institution for nurturing science and technology talents that create new value and fulfill social responsibility."

President Park is a human resource development expert who has served as the head of the Monopoly Management Division in the Planning and Budget Office of the Fair Trade Commission, Vice President of POSCO, Director of POSCO Human Resources Development Institute, and Director of the Talent Development Institute at Dankook University. He has received the Presidential Citation (1993) and the Chairman's Citation of the Fair Trade Commission (2003). President Park holds an MBA from Korea University Business School and the University of Birmingham in the UK, as well as a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Korea University of Technology and Education.
