Jungnang-gu Provides Employment Retention Support Funds for Unpaid Leave Workers at Small Businesses with Fewer Than 5 Employees
Support for industries such as tourism, retail, accommodation, restaurants, and tech startups severely affected by COVID-19 in Jungnang-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has started accepting applications for the Employment Retention Support Fund from the 1st to support workers employed at small business establishments with fewer than five employees who are forced to take unpaid leave due to the impact of COVID-19.
Through this support, workers at small business establishments who realistically find paid leave difficult will be prevented from resigning for reasons such as livelihood maintenance. This allows workplaces to maintain a minimum business foundation by retaining existing skilled personnel until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes.
The support target is workers enrolled in employment insurance at small business establishments with fewer than five employees located in Jungnang-gu who have taken unpaid leave for five days or more since February 23.
The supported industries include tourism businesses, wholesale and retail, lodging, restaurants, and technology startup companies within Jungnang-gu that have suffered significant direct damage due to COVID-19.
The Employment Retention Support Fund provides 25,000 KRW per day for one person per small business, up to 500,000 KRW per month (up to two people supported for tourism businesses), for a period of two months.
Applications can be submitted in person at the Employment Retention Support Fund reception desk on the first floor of Jungnang-gu Office’s Civil Affairs and Passport Division from the 1st to the 10th of each month, or by downloading the unpaid leave worker support application form from the Jungnang-gu Office website and submitting it via email (blue2094@jn.go.kr), fax (490-4432), or mail (must be sent by registered mail to Job Creation Division, Jungnang-gu Office, 179 Bonghwasan-ro, Jungnang-gu).
The district office will review applications for unpaid leave workers from the previous month received by the 10th and pay the Employment Retention Support Fund to eligible workers. (For April only, unpaid leave workers from February 23 to March 31, 2020, can apply.) If the number of applicants exceeds the support capacity, priority will be given to ▲workers with longer employment insurance enrollment periods at the business and ▲businesses with lower sales volume.
For inquiries, contact the Employment Retention Support Fund reception desk at the Job Creation Division, Jungnang-gu Office (☎2094-2248~50).
