Grand Canyon, a Major US Tourist Destination, Also Closed Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Grand Canyon, a representative tourist attraction in the United States, has also been closed. This measure was taken due to an increase in confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the surrounding area.
The U.S. National Park Service (NPS) announced on the 1st through its website that it received a letter from Coconino County, Arizona, recommending a full closure, and decided to immediately close Grand Canyon National Park.
In Coconino County, 117 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported, with 2 deaths.
This decision is known to be a measure considering the increase in COVID-19 cases in the area and concerns from nearby Navajo indigenous people.
