Government: 52 Cases of COVID-19 Self-Quarantine Violations Under Judicial Processing, 6 Cases Prosecuted
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] The number of cases caught violating self-quarantine guidelines related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has exceeded 50. Among these, 6 cases have been prosecuted.
Park Jonghyun, head of the Public Relations Management Team at the Pan-Government Countermeasure Support Headquarters, stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Sejong Complex on the 2nd, "As of 6 p.m. the previous day, there are 23,768 people under self-quarantine," adding, "Among them, 52 cases have been caught violating self-quarantine and are currently undergoing judicial procedures."
Park explained, "Prosecution decisions have been made for 6 of these cases," and "the remaining 46 cases are in the pre-prosecution stage, with complaints filed or investigations requested."
Those subject to self-quarantine include people with suspected COVID-19 symptoms, those who have undergone diagnostic testing and are awaiting results, and entrants coming from abroad.

Those who violate quarantine measures may be fined up to 3 million won under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act. Starting from the 5th, the revised Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act will be enforced, strengthening penalties to include imprisonment of up to one year or fines up to 10 million won.
