Jeonnam Fire Department Conducts Special Alert Duty to Prevent Fires During Cheongmyeong and Hansik
From 6 PM on the 3rd to 9 AM on the 6th, 14,865 personnel deployed
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) is making every effort to ensure a fire-free Cheongmyeong and Hansik.
Jeonnam Fire announced on the 2nd that it will enter a "special alert duty" due to the increased risk of forest fires caused by the rise in the number of visitors for ancestral rites, tree planting activities, and hikers ahead of Cheongmyeong (4th) and Hansik (5th).
In the past three years, a total of 72 fires occurred during the Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods, resulting in 5 casualties (1 death, 4 injuries) and property damage amounting to approximately 270 million won.
Among these, forest fires accounted for 21 cases, representing 29% of all fires, with most causes attributed to carelessness.
This special alert duty was implemented to prevent fire damage, which particularly occurs frequently during the Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods.
It will be conducted from 6 p.m. on the 3rd to 9 a.m. on the 6th.
During this period, 14,865 personnel including firefighters and volunteer firefighters, along with 651 pieces of equipment, will be mobilized to conduct fire prevention patrols at least three times a day in memorial facilities such as cemeteries, hiking trails, and forest-adjacent areas throughout the province.
Through patrols, they will remove fire risk factors in advance, prevent burning activities around fields and paddies, and deploy firefighting forces forward at 40 major hiking trails and park cemeteries to establish a rapid initial response system.
