According to the Spanish Ministry of Health's tally on the 1st (local time), the number of deaths due to COVID-19 increased by 864 compared to the previous day. This is the highest daily death toll since the Spanish authorities began compiling statistics. As a result, the current cumulative death toll has reached 9,053.
