Chinese Local Government Supports Chungnam with 290,000 Masks and More
[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A Chinese local government has provided masks and protective suits to Chungnam.
Chungnam Province announced on the 1st that it recently received 291,800 masks and 980 protective suits from 12 Chinese local governments.
The local governments that supported Chungnam with quarantine supplies include Shandong, Sichuan, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Guizhou, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hebei, Yanbian, Jilin, Qinghai, and Yunnan. These local governments have established sister city relationships or maintain friendly cooperative relations with Chungnam.
The province plans to distribute the received quarantine supplies to local medical centers, public health centers (screening clinics), transportation workers, foreign workers, elderly welfare facilities, and mental health care facilities.
Previously, the province contributed to overcoming natural disasters by providing cash support during the 2008 Sichuan earthquake.

A provincial official stated, “As with the current COVID-19 situation, the province will actively support sister cities and local governments in China with which it has friendly cooperative relations whenever difficulties arise.”
