Cybercrime Prevention Day was established in 2015 to provide an opportunity to reflect on the importance of preventing cybercrime and ways to practice it.
To increase public interest, the police have been conducting the 'National Cyber Safety Content Contest' and the 'Anti-Cyber School Violence Positive Comment Campaign' since February. The Cyber Safety Content Contest received 528 entries across three categories: videos, card news, and posters. Among these, 44 final works were selected through expert evaluation and online public voting. The winning entries will be posted on the website and used in future cybercrime prevention promotional activities. The positive comment campaign, conducted in collaboration with the Good Comment Movement Headquarters, will continue until the end of this month, and four outstanding participating schools will be selected to receive commendations from the Commissioner of the National Police Agency.
Additionally, the police have launched a dedicated website to commemorate Cybercrime Prevention Day, where various cybercrime prevention promotional contents can be accessed. Visitors can find prevention guidelines for major cybercrimes such as crimes exploiting the COVID-19 issue and messenger phishing. The police also plan to promote easily accessible cybercrime prevention guidelines to the public by producing and distributing prevention content through electronic billboards, websites, and social network services (SNS) of police stations nationwide and related organizations.
