Gwangju Nam-gu, Jeoseoksan Cloud Bridge Closed to Traffic This Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) will carry out installation work for fall prevention facilities on the Jeseoksan Cloud Bridge throughout April.
According to Nam-gu on the 1st, the installation work for fall prevention facilities on the Jeseoksan Cloud Bridge will be conducted for about a month until the 30th.
During the construction period, passage through this section will be completely prohibited.
Nam-gu is controlling mountain hiking by installing gates at both entrances of the cloud bridge to prevent residents visiting Jeseoksan from entering the cloud bridge.
Currently, the Jeseoksan Cloud Bridge has safety railings 1.2 meters high that meet pedestrian safety standards, but after unexpected fall accidents occurred consecutively in 2017 and 2018, work is underway to reinforce the height of the railings.
The newly installed safety railings will be made of aluminum material and installed at a height of 2 meters.
Also, the gaps between the railings are designed to be narrow so that a person's head cannot pass outside the safety railings.
Previously, Nam-gu installed placards around the entrance of the Jeseoksan Cloud Bridge, hiking trails, and roadside to inform about the prohibition of access during the construction period, asking for active cooperation from residents.
