Kang Seok-gyun Appointed CEO of AhnLab: "A Difficult Time Due to COVID-19... A Heavy Responsibility"
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kang Seok-gyun, the new CEO of AhnLab, held an inauguration ceremony on the 1st.
At the inauguration ceremony held at AhnLab's headquarters in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, CEO Kang said, "I feel an even greater sense of responsibility as I take on the role of CEO during a difficult time when a prolonged economic downturn is expected globally due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic." He added, "As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of our founding, a critical time to pursue a new leap forward, I will do my best to meet the expectations of all customers, employees, and shareholders."
The new CEO Kang is a management expert who has held key positions at domestic and international IT companies and global management consulting firms, including Head of Storage Business at IBM Korea, Managing Director at Kolon Benit, CEO of Informatica Korea, Vice President of Business at Dimension Data, and Executive Director of the Financial Industry Group at Accenture.

Kang joined AhnLab in 2013 as Executive Director of the Strategic Business Division and was promoted in 2014 to head of AhnLab's domestic business division. In 2015, when the organization was restructured into a business unit system, he took charge of the Endpoint Platform (EP) Business Unit and was recognized for driving the growth of the business unit, leading to his promotion to Vice President in 2018. In 2019, he oversaw the 'EPN Business Unit,' which integrated the network business division into the Endpoint Platform (EP) Business Unit, successfully stabilizing and growing the business unit.
