Geumcheon-gu to Create 9,000 Jobs This Year
Announcement of 7 Major Strategies to Achieve the 2020 Job Creation Target of 9,000 Positions
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has set a job creation target of 9,000 for 2020 and announced seven major strategies to achieve this goal.
The 2020 job targets by group are △Youth, 38 projects with 453 people △Middle-aged, 43 projects with 898 people △Seniors, 2 projects with 3,015 people △Vulnerable groups, 4 projects with 961 people △Customized job creation and support for all groups, 17 projects with 3,673 people.
By sector, the targets are △Direct jobs, 79 projects with 5,153 people △Vocational skill development training, 4 projects with 122 people △Employment services, 3 projects with 2,245 people △Startup support, 1 project with 90 people △Job infrastructure establishment, 9 projects with 16 people △Facility construction, 1 project with 16 people △Public-private employment creation, 7 projects with 1,358 people.
Along with this, the district presented seven major strategies to achieve the job creation goals: △Expansion of infrastructure for job creation △Provision of demand-centered customized employment support services △Youth job creation and employment support △Active support for jobs for vulnerable employment groups △Continuous efforts to improve job quality for workers △Establishment of networks and public-private cooperation systems for job creation △Operation of a job disclosure task force.
Based on these seven strategies, the district plans to closely cooperate with related organizations and steadily implement detailed projects by department to achieve the job creation targets.
Previously, in December 2018, the district promised to create 35,900 jobs (more than 8,800 annually) during the 7th local government term through the ‘7th Local Government Comprehensive Job Plan’. Last year, aiming to create 8,900 jobs, it created 10,349 direct and indirect jobs.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “In 2020, we plan to steadily carry out each action task to create good jobs. Although there are many difficulties due to COVID-19, we will increase stable jobs through infrastructure establishment, active job discovery by group, customized employment education, and job fairs.”
