12th and 13th Confirmed Cases in Bucheon Reinfected After Recovery... Virus Reactivation Suspected
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Two individuals in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, who had recovered from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), have tested positive again.
Jang Deokcheon, mayor of Bucheon, announced on the 31st via his social network service (SNS) that two COVID-19 patients in Bucheon were confirmed positive again after recovery.
These two are a 26-year-old male (12th confirmed case) and a 32-year-old female (13th confirmed case), employees of a company in Ojeong-dong where a cluster of eight confirmed cases previously occurred.
After visiting Daegu, they showed COVID-19 symptoms, underwent specimen testing, and were confirmed positive on the 8th of this month.
They received treatment at facilities including Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Pocheon Hospital and were discharged after recovery on the 23rd of the same month.
However, four days later, on the 27th, they showed symptoms again, underwent specimen testing at a local screening clinic, and were confirmed positive again on the 28th, just five days after recovery.
Bucheon City, noting that they had tested negative twice after recovery, is conducting epidemiological investigations with health authorities, considering this a case of 'virus reactivation' leading to reinfection.
