Gwanak-gu Offers Up to 1 Million KRW Support for Voluntary Closure of Karaoke Rooms and PC Cafes
Support up to 1 Million KRW for 675 PC Rooms, Karaoke Rooms, and Sports Facilities... In-Person Applications at Gwanak-gu Office from April 1 to 2, 9 AM to 6 PM
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) will provide support funds of up to 1 million KRW to owners of private multi-use facilities such as PC rooms, karaoke rooms, and sports facilities who voluntarily close their businesses by April 5.
The support targets a total of 675 establishments registered, permitted, or reported in Gwanak-gu: ▲181 PC rooms ▲306 karaoke rooms ▲188 sports facilities. The closure support funds will be given to businesses that voluntarily close during the recommended suspension period (March 27 to April 5).
Among them, 424 establishments that joined the voluntary closure from March 27 will receive 1 million KRW, and the remaining establishments that join from April 1 will receive 500,000 KRW.
The application period is two days from April 1 to 2, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Business owners or their representatives must visit Gwanak-gu Office (submission desk: in front of Woori Bank, basement level 1) with the closure support application form, a copy of the business registration certificate, a copy of the representative’s ID (or representative’s ID for agents), and a copy of the bankbook, one copy each.
The district office plans to conduct two unannounced visits to participating establishments to inspect the site, and any business activities detected will result in exclusion from the support program.
During the high-intensity social distancing campaign to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Gwanak-gu has continuously encouraged private multi-use facilities with high risk of group infection, such as PC rooms and karaoke rooms, to voluntarily close.
Additionally, through the ‘1020 Gang Gamchan Disinfection Supplies Delivery Service,’ a total of 1,866 disinfectants have been provided to 933 establishments via courier, helping businesses maintain constant disinfection.

Mayor Park Junhee said, “I thank the business owners who voluntarily closed their businesses for the safety of residents despite the significant business losses caused by COVID-19. I hope this support fund will help compensate for some of the losses, and the district will do its best to bring COVID-19 to an end as soon as possible.”
