Seven Eleven Launches Large-Scale Discount Event on 1,100 Items for One Month
Strengthening the Selection of Essential Goods in Promotional Products
Processed Foods, Fresh/Refrigerated, and Household Items Increased Up to Twice
40% Discount with Nonghyup and Hana Card by Item Category
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Convenience store 7-Eleven has prepared a promotion to revive consumer sentiment, which has been weakened by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), and to ease the financial burden on the public.
7-Eleven announced on the 31st that it will select a total of about 1,100 items and conduct a large-scale giveaway and discount event throughout April. Considering that the number of products in one store is up to about 2,500, this means that 45% of the entire inventory will be composed of promotional products.
In particular, this event expanded the selection of promotional products centered on essential goods as consumers minimized outings and spent relatively more time at home due to the impact of COVID-19. A total of about 120 processed food items such as instant rice, instant soup, and canned food were prepared, increasing the usual promotional selection by 70%, and fresh/refrigerated foods were also doubled to about 60 items.
The number of giveaway items in the non-food category, focusing on hygiene products such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, and household items such as detergents and fabric softeners, was also greatly increased to about 160. The alcohol promotion for home drinkers was also expanded. 7-Eleven is conducting discount events such as 10,000 KRW for 4 cans and 5,000 KRW for 4 cans on 85 types of beer, and selling 9 types of wine at up to 45% discount.
Various partnership promotions are also underway. Throughout April, 7-Eleven is selecting the top 10 best side dishes under the concept of ‘Weekend at Seven’ and offering a 40% discount when paying with Nonghyup Card or Hana Card from Friday to Sunday every week.
