Recruitment of Cyber-Related Military Civil Servants Starting Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] The Ministry of National Defense is recruiting civilian military personnel for the cyber field. The open competitive recruitment for the cyber series is planned to be implemented from 2021 after preparing exam subjects and other requirements.
On the 31st, the Ministry of National Defense explained, "This is a measure to strengthen national defense cyber security capabilities, efficiently manage personnel with expertise in the cyber field, and expand the recruitment of outstanding cyber professionals from the civilian sector."
This year, the Ministry of National Defense plans to recruit 400 civilian military personnel with disabilities, including about 20 people with severe disabilities, through career recruitment.
People with severe disabilities are exempt from the written exam. This is due to the revision and promulgation of the "Civilian Military Personnel Personnel Act Enforcement Decree," which includes expanding the exemption targets for the written exam during career competitive recruitment of civilian military personnel to increase the recruitment of people with disabilities and establishing a cyber series for civilian military personnel.
The revised law exempts the written exam during career competitive recruitment for people with severe disabilities, soldiers who became physically disabled during military service, professionals with qualifications, and experienced personnel.
The recruitment schedule for civilian military personnel with disabilities will be announced after April, and this year, 400 civilian military personnel with disabilities will be recruited. Among them, about 20 are people with severe disabilities, which the Ministry of National Defense explained is part of the plan to expand civilian military personnel recruitment.
In addition, some shortcomings identified in the current civilian military personnel recruitment system, such as the period and scope of determining successful candidates, and the recognition period for English and Korean history proficiency tests, have also been supplemented. The scope of determining successful candidates for written and practical exams in open recruitment or career recruitment exams has been expanded from 130% to 150%, and the period for determining additional successful candidates has been extended from within 3 months to within 6 months.
The recognition period for English and Korean history proficiency tests has been extended by one year each, and the timing for submitting scores has been changed from "when submitting the application form" to "scores announced by the day before the scheduled written exam date." The details of this revision can be found at the National Law Information Center (www.law.go.kr). The Ministry of National Defense plans to announce the recruitment schedule for civilian military personnel through the civilian military personnel recruitment internet homepage and media outlets.
