Gyeonggi Women's Vision Center Expands Counseling for Marginalized Groups
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will significantly expand on-site counseling visits to support marginalized groups this year. In addition, education to strengthen the capabilities of counseling staff will also be enhanced.
The Gyeonggi Women's Vision Center announced on the 31st that it will open and operate the 'Gyeonggi Family Counseling Center' starting from the 1st of next month. The Gyeonggi Family Counseling Center is a family-specialized counseling institution aimed at helping residents lead healthy and happy family lives, and has been operating since 2013. Its main services are provided in various forms including telephone, in-person, cyber, and on-site counseling.
This year, the center will expand its 'visiting service' for counseling marginalized groups such as single-person households and reclusive individuals from 570 sessions annually to 870 sessions. Additionally, the 'supervision' education, which encourages the enhancement of work capabilities of counseling staff at health family support centers in cities and counties across the province through sharing counseling cases, will increase from 20 to 30 sessions annually.
In particular, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, psychological counseling will be provided for residents experiencing family conflicts caused by psychological anxiety, isolation, and economic difficulties, supporting the psychological quarantine aspect emphasized by Governor Lee Jae-myung as one of the three major quarantine measures in Gyeonggi Province.
The counseling center will prioritize telephone and cyber counseling from April to December, operating Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In-person counseling is available at the Family Counseling Center on the first floor of the Women's Vision Center on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but weekend counseling hours may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.
Inquiries related to counseling can be checked through the Gyeonggi Women's Vision Center website (www.gg.go.kr/woman).
