Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongbuk, announced on the 26th that it will partially resume operations from the day the quarantine period for Pureun Nursing Home workers ends.
Since the first infected person was reported on the 4th of this month, the total number of COVID-19 patients at this nursing home has reached 68, accounting for 58.1% of the total 117 people (56 residents and 61 workers).
Until the 21st, quarantine of the same group (cohort) of workers and residents at the nursing home was conducted by the quarantine authorities, who transferred them to the Munsusan Natural Recreation Forest living treatment facility, general hospitals, and others.
From the 21st to the 24th, the Bonghwa Public Health Center conducted the first and second rounds of disinfection, including disinfecting and disposing of furniture and personal belongings used at the nursing home. Subsequently, soldiers from the 123rd Regiment, a military unit located in Bonghwa, completed the third round of disinfection.
Caregivers and nursing home workers who tested negative and had been quarantined at Munsusan Natural Recreation Forest gradually ended their quarantine starting from the 21st.
Accordingly, Bonghwa-gun allowed six nursing home residents who had recovered and been discharged to return to Pureun Nursing Home from their homes or hospital rooms, as well as two residents who tested negative and were hospitalized in general wards.
Families of the recovered nursing home residents said, "We have faced many difficulties as other hospitals and nursing homes refused admission."
