Hakjisa, Harrison & Company, and Others Recognized for Depositing Publications at the National Library of Korea

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jong-gil] The National Library of Korea announced on the 26th that it has selected Hakjisa (books), Harrison & Company (non-books), and Communication Books (digital files) as the contributors for legal deposit this year. Legal deposit is a system that requires publishers to submit two copies of newly published books to the National Library of Korea within 30 days. This system has been in place since 1965.

Hakjisa is a publisher specializing in academic books. It submitted 604 titles last year. Harrison & Company is a producer and distributor of movie DVDs and Blu-rays. It deposited 242 items last year. Communication Books provided thirty types of digital files to produce materials for books for the disabled. Due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the National Library of Korea delivered the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s commendation and plaques by mail without holding a ceremony.
