The government strongly recommended suspending operations of religious, sports, entertainment facilities, PC rooms, karaoke rooms, academies, and other youth multi-use facilities for fifteen days.
This is a policy to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practicing intensive social distancing, such as refraining from going out and staying at home as much as possible, following the postponement of school openings three times due to COVID-19.
Accordingly, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 25th that it will guide various facilities to comply with the ‘Strengthened Social Distancing Measures in Response to COVID-19’ and issue administrative orders to prohibit gatherings and assemblies for facilities and businesses that operate without following the compliance measures.
In addition, 1,000 posters containing messages to refrain from going out and gatherings and personal hygiene rules, and 6,000 notices regarding restrictions on facility gatherings and assemblies were produced and distributed. Social distancing promotion was also carried out through SNS and village broadcasts.
Furthermore, due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the Slow Walking Festival on Cheongsando and the 2020 Wando Jangbogo Seafood Festival were canceled. To protect the safety of residents and tourists, from the 29th to 30th of this month and the weekends of the 4th to 5th of next month, entry of tourists to Cheongsando will be restricted, and the COVID-19 quarantine system is being operated through strengthened monitoring of overseas entrants.
Within the county office, special duty management guidelines for infection prevention are being promoted, including flexible work and staggered lunch hours to minimize interpersonal contact, maintaining a 2-meter distance during face-to-face reporting, and conducting meetings via video or written formats.
Moreover, a complete ban on regional movement for two weeks was implemented, and promotional activities were carried out to encourage participation in social distancing by local institutions and social organizations.
Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, said, “Until the 5th of next month is the golden time to control COVID-19,” and added, “High-intensity social distancing is a measure to regain our daily lives and a safe Republic of Korea, so I ask our residents to have a mature awareness and actively participate. The county will also mobilize all administrative power to focus on preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19.”
