Yeongdeungpo-gu, Training Counseling Psychologists for Emotional Laborers
Following last year's 5, 3 Unemployed Youth Selected This Year... Applications Accepted April 9-17... One Participating Company Recruited March 23-27... 90% Wage Support for 6 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is recruiting participants for the ‘2020 Emotional Laborer Counseling Psychologist Training Project’ to protect the rights of emotional laborers and provide job opportunities for young people aspiring to work in the counseling field.
As the need to protect the rights of emotional laborers has emerged as a social issue, the ‘Emotional Laborer Protection Act’ was enacted in October 2018. However, according to a survey of 2,765 emotional laborers last year, more than 83.4% responded that they have difficulty dealing with aggressive customers, showing that the hardships of frontline workers are still ongoing.
Accordingly, the district started this project last year as part of the ‘Community-led Youth Job Project’ led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to train counseling psychologists for emotional laborers in the local community.
As a result of the project operation, five unemployed young people were selected, received capacity-building education, and were hired as counseling psychologists, creating local jobs.
This year, following last year, the district is recruiting not only individual participants who wish to work in the counseling field but also companies that will participate in the counseling psychologist training project.
The purpose is to solve the employment mismatch in the counseling field by providing one-stop support from education for individual participants to employment linkage with private companies.
First, the district will recruit one company that plans to operate support programs such as counseling for emotional laborers from April 23 to 27. Participating companies will receive 90% support for the labor costs of hired personnel for six months.
Three unemployed young people with counseling psychologist certification registered as residents in Yeongdeungpo-gu will also be recruited. They will be provided with six months of counseling practical experience and capacity-building education.
The recruitment period is from April 9 to April 17.
Details about the recruitment of participating companies and participants for the emotional laborer counseling psychologist training project can be found on the district’s website. For more information, contact the Job Economy Division.
