A New Elementary School to Open in Gireum-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul
Conversion of Public Open Spaces and School Sites within Gireum 1 Redevelopment Promotion Zone
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] A new elementary school will be built in Gireum-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.
The Seongbuk Gangbuk Office of Education under the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that on the 23rd, it will sign a business agreement with Seongbuk-gu Office to establish an elementary school on public notice land within the Gireum 1 Redevelopment Promotion Zone.
The Seongbuk Gangbuk Office of Education and Seongbuk-gu Office will promote the establishment of the elementary school in line with the progress of the nearby redevelopment project. Seongbuk-gu Office will convert the public notice land into school land and grant free use to the Office of Education, while the Office of Education has agreed to establish the school including complex facilities such as care facilities and sports facilities for residents to use within the school.
The public notice land in the area has been continuously raised by residents as needing an elementary school due to the increase in the number of students caused by redevelopment growth, and there was a safety risk for commuting, making the establishment of a new school necessary.
