Gochang-gun Installs Acrylic Panels at Civil Service Counters to Prevent COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] On the 15th, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced that it installed acrylic panels at the comprehensive civil service office counters to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The acrylic panels, made of transparent material, are simply placed on the existing counters at the height of the seated civil service users, serving to prevent COVID-19 infection caused by droplets from the users.
The lower part of the acrylic panel structure has a groove to allow the exchange of civil service documents. Due to concerns about the decline in civil service operations caused by the spread of COVID-19, Gochang-gun plans to allocate emergency funds to produce acrylic panels and sequentially deploy them at sites with close contact during civil service interactions.
To prevent COVID-19 infection, the civil service office mandates staff to wear masks and provides personal sanitizers, conducting thorough daily disinfection of counters and unmanned civil service devices.
Earlier, Gochang-gun hung a banner in front of the government building saying, "Let's overcome COVID-19 together with the residents!" promoting strict personal hygiene such as mask-wearing and handwashing, and encouraging participation in "social distancing."
Additionally, to prevent cluster infections within the jurisdiction, official letters, letters signed by Mayor Yu Gi-sang of Gochang-gun, and text messages have been sent to religious facilities urging restraint in holding gatherings.

A Gochang-gun official stated, "When droplets from a coughing person land on surfaces, people tend to touch their masks or hang them on their chins, which can lead to touching the eyes, nose, or mouth mucous membranes, potentially transmitting the virus. Therefore, it is essential to strictly maintain personal hygiene such as wearing masks and washing hands, and even more importantly, to pay close attention to distancing in situations involving close contact."
