Ministry of Labor: "Call Centers Introducing Remote Work Infrastructure Can Receive Up to 20 Million Won Support"
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Call centers, which have a high risk of COVID-19 cluster infections, can now receive government subsidies of up to 20 million KRW if they establish networks to introduce remote work.
According to the Ministry of Labor on the 15th, call centers that decide to introduce remote work to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread and purchase or lease virtual private networks (VPNs) are eligible for support under the government's "Remote Work Infrastructure Establishment Support Project."
This project, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies, provides up to 20 million KRW, covering 50% of the costs for employers who establish remote work infrastructure. Certain conditions must be met, such as at least 50% of the planned workforce utilizing remote work.
Purchases or leases of information systems such as networks including VPNs, work software, and security systems like user authentication are eligible for support. However, purchases of communication devices such as laptops or purchases/leases of buildings and land are not covered.

SMEs and mid-sized companies introducing remote work can also receive wage support under the "Flexible Work Indirect Labor Cost Support Project." This project provides up to 5.2 million KRW per worker per year based on the number of times flexible work, including remote work, is utilized.
