Taekwang Group Supports Over 800 Million Won Including Participation in Good Rent Campaign
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Taekwang Group is undertaking various activities to urgently assist those in need in order to help overcome the national difficulties caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 11th, Taekwang Group announced that it will support more than 800 million KRW in total, including donations and goods such as participation in the Good Rent Movement, cash donations, emergency support funds, and mask deliveries for children in vulnerable groups.
Taekwang Group is participating in the 'Good Rent Movement' by reducing rent by 30% up to 1 million KRW per month for three months for small business owners and SMEs located in its affiliate buildings. Especially in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, the monthly reduction limit is waived and the rent is reduced by 70%. The beneficiaries are small business owners and SMEs residing in buildings owned by the group's major affiliates such as Taekwang Industrial, Daehan Chemical Fiber, Heungkuk Life Insurance, Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance, and TCIS. The Ilju Academic and Cultural Foundation is also reducing rent by 30% without a monthly limit for two months for small business owners in its foundation building. The total amount of rent reduction is 500 million KRW.
Additionally, Taekwang Group donated 300 million KRW to the official fundraising organization, the Daegu Community Chest of Korea, to be used for supporting medical equipment, necessary supplies for medical personnel, goods for confirmed and quarantined residents, and care services for vulnerable groups.
Major affiliates of Taekwang Group are also conducting various support activities such as mask deliveries.
Media affiliate T-Broad provided 20,000 KF94 health masks in the first phase to employees of partner companies, and infrastructure and leisure affiliate TCIS delivered 1,200 masks upon request from the Senior Citizen Comprehensive Support Center connected through the 'Love Connecting Phone' program. Additionally, TRN and financial affiliate Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance supported Daegu Metropolitan City Hall and Daegu Dalseo District Office with 20,000 and 10,000 masks respectively to prioritize medical staff and marginalized groups. These affiliates plan to secure more masks for a second round of additional support.

The Ilju Academic and Cultural Foundation also provided an emergency support fund of 11 million KRW for the purchase of children's masks, hand sanitizers, and disinfection measures to protect children and prevent the spread of infection in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region through the Korea Child and Youth Group Home Association.
