According to Gwangju City on the 10th, the ‘mobile disinfection volunteer vehicle’ was designed to carry out disinfection quickly and promptly. Until now, when disinfection volunteer work requests came in, volunteers were recruited, disinfection supplies were loaded, and disinfection was conducted in the designated area, which took at least 1 to 2 days.
The newly introduced mobile disinfection volunteer vehicle is equipped with necessary disinfection supplies and circulates around the Gwangju area by vehicle, immediately disinfecting wherever citizens request.
On the 10th, Gwangju City started operating the mobile disinfection volunteer vehicle with Mayor Lee Yong-seop and about 30 volunteers participating, disinfecting the entrance of Ssangchon Jugong Apartments and the corridors of 6 buildings (1,160 households).
Going forward, the disinfection vehicle will disinfect high-traffic areas frequented by citizens at least once daily on a rotating weekday schedule by district.
The weekday rotation by district is as follows: ▲ Dong-gu on Tuesday (Asia Culture Center → Chosun University → Dong-gu Office) ▲ Seo-gu on Monday (City Hall → U-Square → Punggeum Intersection) ▲ Nam-gu on Wednesday (Nam-gu Office → Bongseon-dong → Jinwol-dong) ▲ Buk-gu on Thursday (Malbau Market → Chonnam National University → Uchi Park) ▲ Gwangsan-gu on Friday (Kookmin Bank Intersection → Nambu University → Cheomdan Lotte Mart).
Additionally, on Saturdays, focused disinfection activities will be conducted in vulnerable areas such as Songjeong Station and Gwangcheon Terminal.
In particular, the disinfection vehicle bears the phrase, “Let’s eradicate COVID-19! Let’s overcome it, citizens of Gwangju! Let’s unite, volunteers! Let’s support the medical staff!” to encourage citizens weary from COVID-19.
