Gwangju City to Close 116 Shincheonji Facilities by the 25th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 10th that it has issued administrative orders for temporary closure and entry prohibition for a total of 116 locations, including 4 additional facilities confirmed to be related to Shincheonji, until the 25th of this month.
The city will extend the two-week deadline for the existing 112 Shincheonji churches and related facilities whose forced closure administrative orders are about to expire.
The original deadline for the administrative orders was until the 11th, but since 7 of the confirmed local patients’ infection routes are linked to Shincheonji and there have been consecutive cases confirmed after their contacts were released from self-quarantine, this decision was made to systematically control the related facilities.
Additionally, based on citizen reports and on-site verification, 4 locations confirmed as Shincheonji-related facilities by the Gwangju City-Shincheonji Church TF team have also been ordered to close and prohibit entry until the 25th.
The city had previously issued administrative orders for temporary closure and entry prohibition for 112 Shincheonji churches and affiliated facilities in the jurisdiction under the “Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act” to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
