Jeon Young-hyun, President of Samsung SDI, as a Leader in the Korean Battery Industry
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Jeon Young-hyun, President of Samsung SDI, has been appointed as the 6th president of the Korea Battery Industry Association, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
The Korea Battery Industry Association announced on the 10th that President Jeon was appointed as the new association president at the regular board meeting held at the JW Marriott Hotel. President Jeon's term will last for three years until the regular general meeting in 2023.
In his inaugural speech, President Jeon stated, "With the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the introduction of artificial intelligence, the importance of the battery industry has significantly increased," adding, "The association will play an active and proactive role to ensure that domestic companies secure a clear advantage in global competition."
To this end, President Jeon plans to promote three major strategies: 'strengthening future growth engines,' 'improving industrial structure,' and 'expanding development foundations.'
He also intends to propose policies to expand demand for electric vehicles and energy storage systems (ESS), internationalize KS standards, and introduce group standards and certification systems to change perceptions about battery safety.

Furthermore, to expand the foundation for the development of the battery industry, he plans to establish a Second Battery Industry Day, build used battery centers, and set up testing and evaluation equipment.
