North Korea Transfers Foreigners from Pyongyang to Russia via Special Flight
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] North Korea, which had closed its borders to prevent the spread of COVID-19, operated a special flight to transfer foreigners outside North Korea to Russia.
On the 9th, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that North Korea operated a special flight that morning to move diplomats and foreigners within North Korea to Russia. The Air Koryo passenger plane departing from Pyongyang International Airport landed at Vladivostok International Airport around 10:50 a.m. that day. It is not yet known how many people were on the passenger plane that left Pyongyang and landed at Vladivostok International Airport.
The newspaper explained that although North Korea has never officially confirmed a single case of COVID-19, it has closed its borders as a measure to prevent the spread of the virus. It also reported that thousands of people are in quarantine within North Korea as part of strict preventive measures.

However, North Korea lifted the one-month quarantine requirement for foreign diplomats residing in North Korea, allowing them to leave the country if necessary. Accordingly, countries carrying out diplomatic missions in North Korea, including the German Embassy, the French Cooperation Office, and the Swiss Development Cooperation Office, are reportedly planning to reduce or close their missions in Pyongyang.
