Gwangju Volunteer Fire Brigade Supports COVID-19 Mask Production Factory
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Volunteer firefighters in Gwangju Metropolitan City have stepped in to help alleviate the labor shortage at mask production factories caused by the increased demand for masks due to COVID-19.
The City Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 9th that from the 9th until the end of this month, a total of 230 people, 10 per day, will support packaging tasks at two local mask production factories.
Support will first be provided to a company located in Buk-gu, and support for a company in Gwangsan-gu will be provided if requested later. Additionally, if difficulties persist due to the COVID-19 situation, an extension plan will be considered.
Choi Min-cheol, head of the City Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “Volunteer firefighters have been actively engaged in many volunteer activities for the safety of the local community and citizens,” and added, “Gwangju Fire Department will spare no effort in providing manpower and equipment to bring an early end to COVID-19.”
