MetLife Supports COVID-19 Overcome Efforts with Medical Supplies Worth 100 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] MetLife Life Insurance announced on the 9th that it will support medical supplies worth 100 million won to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) through the MetLife Foundation.
These supplies will be primarily provided to medical staff in Daegu and the Gyeongbuk region through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. Additionally, 5,000 masks held by the exclusive planner organization will also be delivered.
Furthermore, MetLife has decided to apply disaster standards when paying insurance claims arising from COVID-19 and to provide insurance benefits accordingly.
In January, the Ministry of Health and Welfare amended the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act to add COVID-19 (novel infectious disease syndrome) as a first-class infectious disease. The revised terms and conditions allow coverage for COVID-19. This standard will also be uniformly applied retroactively to customers who joined before the amendment.
