On the 8th, Myeong Hyun-gwan, the head of Haenam-gun, held an emergency expanded executive meeting and urged strict efforts to resolve residents' inconveniences due to changes in the public mask purchasing method.
Starting from the 9th, the 5-day rotation system based on the last digit of the birth year will be implemented for purchasing public masks. However, concerns have arisen about confusion among residents visiting post offices or pharmacies due to inconvenient transportation in rural fishing and farming areas.
Accordingly, the county plans to thoroughly promote the mask sales days and hours, as well as the purchase history system through ID verification, to residents via eup and myeon offices, and to cooperate with related organizations at sales sites to minimize residents' inconvenience.
From the 9th, the 5-day rotation system will be implemented at 35 pharmacies within Haenam-gun, with sales hours unified to 9:30 a.m. to prevent duplicate purchases. The price per mask is 1,500 KRW, and each person can purchase only two masks.
At 13 post offices and 16 NongHyup branches, an integrated system for purchase history verification is being established. Until the system is completed, only one mask per person will be sold. Once the system is in place, the 5-day rotation system will be implemented in the same way as at pharmacies.
The mask 5-day rotation system allows purchasing public masks only on designated days of the week based on the last digit of the birth year. Those ending in 1 or 6 can purchase on Monday, 2 or 7 on Tuesday, 3 or 8 on Wednesday, 4 or 9 on Thursday, and 5 or 0 on Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, residents who missed their weekday purchase can buy masks.
Children under 10 years old and seniors aged 80 or older can have a proxy purchase masks on their behalf by bringing a resident registration certificate and the proxy purchaser’s ID in accordance with the 5-day rotation system.
Additionally, strict management of public officials’ duties was emphasized, urging restraint on business trips outside the area and external activities such as sports to prevent employees from being placed under self-quarantine.
