[Exclusive] Tada Notifies New Hires of 'Employment Cancellation'... Aftermath of Tada Ban Law
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] It has been confirmed that Tada canceled its new hires immediately after the amendment to the Passenger Transport Service Act, known as the 'Tada Prohibition Act,' was passed. Tada has announced, "We will temporarily suspend the Basic service within one month of the law's promulgation."
According to industry sources on the 9th, VCNC, the operator of Tada, notified new hires whose employment had been confirmed that their hiring was canceled right after the Passenger Transport Service Act amendment passed the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 4th. The successful candidates who received sudden cancellation notices are confused. Mr. A, who was originally scheduled to start work on this day, said, "I was informed by the HR team last week that my acceptance was canceled. If the company was uncertain, shouldn't the hiring have proceeded after the National Assembly's decision?" expressing his bewilderment.
Regarding this, Tada stated, "Unfortunately, we reached a point where we could not continue the business, so there was no choice," adding, "With existing staff uncertain about their future, new hiring was impossible, and we decided to cancel last week." Tada also explained that nothing has been decided yet regarding VCNC's workforce reduction or future plans.
Tada drivers have also entered the process of being laid off. It is known that immediately after the passage of the Passenger Transport Service Act amendment, Tada informed partner companies employing drivers to reduce operations by 20%.
Because of this, concerns about livelihood are pouring out among Tada drivers. Mr. Han Taegwan (45), who has been working as a Tada driver for a year, conveyed the atmosphere, saying, "In the KakaoTalk group chat, everyone was talking about 'How are we supposed to make a living?' and 'Should we even protest?'"

An industry insider familiar with the situation said, "About 5% of the drivers working at Tada are directly employed, and I understand they have already quit," adding, "Drivers employed through partner companies are also gradually looking for other jobs as Tada decided to suspend its business."
