Dongjak-gu, Special COVID-19 Disinfection with Major Road Sanitizers Applied
Simultaneous Removal of Fine Dust and COVID-19 Using Disinfectant Spraying on Major Arterial and Secondary Roads... Daily Cleaning Over 3 Times with 13 Vehicles Including Sprinkler Trucks, Dust Suction Trucks, and Street Sweepers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is undertaking road cleaning and special disinfection within the district to block the community spread of fine dust and COVID-19.
The district is deploying a total of 13 cleaning vehicles for this cleaning and special disinfection, including ▲5 water spraying trucks ▲4 dust suction vehicles ▲4 street sweepers equipped with brushes.
On major roads within the district with heavy vehicle traffic and pedestrian flow such as Noryangjin-ro, Hyeonchung-ro, and Dongjak-daero, two 12-ton water spraying trucks will be deployed, while three 5-ton and 3-ton water spraying trucks will be assigned to general and side roads, cleaning more than three times daily.
In particular, dust suction vehicles will be operated intensively to thoroughly remove dust and viruses accumulated on the roads, and roads will be disinfected using water spraying trucks filled with disinfectant solution.
When fine dust alerts are issued, road cleaning will be intensified. If (ultra)fine dust reduction measures are announced, the operation of water spraying trucks and dust suction vehicles will be expanded to four times daily for eight hours, and the target sections will be increased to 60 km.
The water used for this cleaning and special disinfection will primarily come from clean groundwater generated at Nodeul Station and Sindaebang Samgeori Station, and through cooperation with Seoul City, local fire hydrants will also be available for use.
Additionally, if confirmed COVID-19 cases occur, water cleaning and disinfection will be focused around the movement routes of the infected individuals.
Gwangjeong Lee, Director of the Cleaning Administration Division, said, “Through the implementation of these measures, we will protect residents’ health from fine dust and COVID-19 and create a safe street environment.”
