Fire at Samsung Electronics Hwaseong Plant Battery Facility Overnight... Extinguished
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] At around 11:18 PM on the 8th, a fire broke out at the Samsung Electronics semiconductor factory in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, and was extinguished after about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The fire occurred in Green 2 Building within the factory, known as a deodorizing facility that treats wastewater odors generated during the semiconductor production process. There were no reported casualties.
The fire department deployed about 30 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and around 80 personnel to extinguish the fire, which was completely put out at around 1:50 AM on the 9th.
The fire department reported that the fire started at the cooling tower on the facility's rooftop and is currently investigating the detailed cause of the fire.

A Samsung Electronics official stated, "Since the fire occurred in an auxiliary facility, not the production line, there will be no disruption to semiconductor production."
