70s Female Patient Admitted to Seoul Baek Hospital Confirmed Positive... "Hid Residence in Daegu" (Comprehensive)
Emergency Room and Some Wards Closed... Patient Admission and Discharge, Staff Movement Prohibited, Visitors Blocked at Hospital Entrance
Seoul Baik Hospital announced on the 8th that it closed part of the outpatient clinic, emergency room, and some wards after a 78-year-old female patient, Ms. A, who concealed the fact that she had been living in Daegu, was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Ms. A had been hospitalized at Seoul Baik Hospital since the 3rd of this month due to gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and abdominal discomfort. On the morning of the same day at 7 a.m., she was confirmed positive for COVID-19 and was isolated in a negative pressure room. The patient was transferred to another government-designated hospital in the afternoon. Seoul Baik Hospital is currently prohibiting patient admissions and discharges as well as the movement of all staff, and blocking visitors at the hospital entrance.
According to Seoul Baik Hospital, Ms. A had stayed in Daegu and came up to her daughter's house in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 29th of last month. She had an appointment at a certain hospital on the 3rd of this month but was unable to receive treatment because she came from Daegu. Afterwards, Ms. A and her guardian visited the gastroenterology department at Seoul Baik Hospital without disclosing that they had come from Daegu.
Seoul Baik Hospital claimed that they confirmed Ms. A’s visit to Daegu multiple times not only when she first visited on the 3rd but also during her hospitalization, but Ms. A denied it. She stated her daughter’s address as her residence when admitted.
Ms. A talked about Daegu several times even in the hospital room, and on the 6th of this month, abnormal signs were detected during auscultation, prompting the medical staff to perform X-rays and chest CT scans.
The medical staff conducted a COVID-19 test on Ms. A on the 7th, and the positive result was confirmed on the morning of the 8th. Upon hearing the confirmation, Ms. A revealed to the medical staff that her actual residence was Daegu. She also disclosed that the associate pastor of the church she attended in Daegu had been confirmed positive.
