Candidate Park Si-jong Announces Pledge to Promote Revised Laws on Gender Equality

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Park Sijong, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for the Gwangsan (Eul) National Assembly election in Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced “the promotion of amendments to laws related to gender equality and policy pledges” in celebration of International Women's Day.
On the 8th, Candidate Park stated in a press release, “The ‘Gender Equality Wage Disclosure System,’ which was a pledge of President Moon Jae-in, publicly discloses the status of executives and operational personnel (including the gender of executives, gender wage status of executives and employees, employment type status of workers, and the conversion rate of non-regular workers to regular workers) through the current Public Institution Operation Act,” but pointed out, “However, it is not applied to private companies.”
He added, “I will promote the sequential expansion of the disclosure system to private companies through amendments to the Framework Act on Employment Policy,” and asserted, “I will strive to create a labor environment without gender discrimination based on data on the gender wage gap.”
He also said, “Changing awareness of gender equality is the beginning of solving our social problems,” and stated, “Through the establishment and support of the Regional Diversity and Equality Committee, we will transform environments designed mainly for men into policies that consider women, children, the elderly, and the disabled, seeking solutions to various problems in our society.”
