Two Sejong Zumba Students Confirmed with COVID-19... Regional Total Cases Reach 5
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Two Zumba dance students in Sejong have tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Including them, the total number of confirmed cases in the region has increased to five.
According to Sejong City on the 8th, the confirmed cases are a woman in her 50s, A (female, #4), residing in Saerom-dong Saetteum Village Complex 7, and a woman in her 40s, B (female, #5), residing in Goun-dong Garak Village Complex 11.
It has been confirmed that they both received Zumba lessons from C (41, female, #2), a Zumba instructor at a fitness center in Dodam-dong, who tested positive for COVID-19 on the 6th.
Ms. A, a violin instructor, received Zumba lessons from Ms. C at Saebom GX in Dodam-dong on the 19th of last month and began experiencing mild fever and other symptoms around 9 p.m. on the 22nd.
Subsequently, Ms. A is understood to have conducted violin lessons for about ten students. The city is carrying out self-quarantine for Ms. A and disinfecting the area around her home, while planning to conduct COVID-19 tests for her violin students and their families.
Ms. B, a full-time housewife, received Zumba lessons from Ms. C at Saebom GX on the 21st of last month. Her symptoms began on the 1st of this month with a mild dry cough, and it has been confirmed that she had refrained from going out due to childcare responsibilities. The city is currently self-quarantining Ms. B and her family and plans to conduct epidemiological investigations and comprehensive testing.
Meanwhile, Zumba instructor Ms. C has been working at the Dodam-dong fitness center ‘Saebom GX’ and also participated in a Zumba dance instructor workshop held in Cheonan Buldang-dong on the 15th of last month.
A total of 29 people attended the workshop, and so far, three from Cheonan, two from Asan (one transferred to Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi), and one from Sejong have tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, 12 people tested negative, and 11 people, including three instructors from Daegu, are still undergoing testing.
In Sejong, COVID-19 testing is underway for 55 students who had contact with Ms. C between the 19th and 21st of last month. Among all the students, three have tested positive so far: Ms. A, Ms. B, and a 20-something Ministry of Health and Welfare official (confirmed positive on the 7th).
Among the remaining students, 50 have tested negative, and two are awaiting test results.
