Yeongdeungpo-gu to Select 'Energy Saving King'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is promoting the '2020 Eco Mileage Neighborhood Competition' to take the lead in environmental protection through energy saving, encouraging active promotion by neighborhood community centers to increase resident participation.

Eco Mileage is a system where energy savings in electricity, water, and city gas at homes and businesses are converted into mileage, which can be used in various areas such as product exchanges and apartment management fee discounts.

The district plans to encourage residents to join through promotion of the Eco Mileage system and create a positive synergy effect by holding a neighborhood competition so residents can receive various benefits.

The Eco Mileage Neighborhood Competition aims to recruit 250 new individual members and 20 new group members per neighborhood community center, evaluating △the number of new Eco Mileage sign-ups △promotion performance comprehensively twice a year in the first and second halves.

In November, the district will announce the eight neighborhood community centers with outstanding performance, awarding one grand prize neighborhood, two excellence awards, and five encouragement awards with commendations and modest incentives. The purpose is to motivate neighborhoods to improve their performance and thereby induce voluntary resident participation.

The district was selected as an excellent district in the Eco Mileage project evaluation for the first and second halves of 2019 and has won the Seoul-type Environment and Energy Policy City-District Joint Cooperation Project Evaluation for eight consecutive years, making every effort to promote sustainable environmental policies.
